Recently, I have been trying extremely hard to look after my skin better and find a skincare routine that works well for me. With a little help from bloggers such as Caroline Hirons, I have found a routine that works well for me at the moment. It's not perfect but I think everyone is always looking for that product that could be just a bit better than the one they're currently using. All items are drugstore but like I said, they work for me. Let's take a look!

( Please excuse the awful photo quality - I am in the process of looking for a new camera)

L'Oreal Paris - Skin Perfection 3 in 1 Purifying Micellar Solution. - RRP: £4.99

Basically I use this to take off the majority of my makeup before moving on to a proper cleanser. It does well at taking off most of my makeup, including eye makeup (without stinging my eyes) and many have likened it to BioDerma (which unfortunately I can not make an opinion on as I have not tried it - yet). A small amount on a couple of cotton pads does the trick.

Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm - RRP: £21

This is my second tub of this cleaning balm and I love it! I just massage a small amount all over my face and then with a face cloth and some hot water remove it. This initially feels very strange on the face, it almost feels as though you are rubbing oil into your skin but once the balm has been washed off it leaves your face feeling soft and not at all greasy. I would definitely recommend this product and I know I will continue to repurchase this in the future!

L'Oreal Paris - Skin Perfection Velvety Soft Toner - RRP: £3.99

Before I started to use this product I had never used a toner before in my life. After reading how bad it was not to use one I decided to stick to a brand and line I new before jumping in at the deep end. Although I have seen a difference in my skin since using this, I definitely want to go out and see what other toners are available as I just don't think this one is good enough. On the first couple of applications I found my skin to be really irritated and to sting quite a bit. This has now stopped but it is definitely something to be aware of.

Hydraluron - RRP: £24.99

Firstly, I would like to say I am still on my first tube of this and also have a stockpile for when I run out. Surely this can only be a good thing. 'The ultimate serum that starts where you moisturiser stops. The result: Better hydrated, glowing, plumped up looking skin.' - This quote is from the boots website and although I cannot agree with 'plumped up looking skin', I can definitely say my skin has looked better hydrated and glowing since using this product. A small amount all over the face before moisturiser does wonders!

Garnier Skin Naturals Moisture Match Start Afresh Light Softening Cream - RRP: £5.99

In the past I have tried a vast variety of moisturisers from all different brands and usually after about a week or so, I throw them away. Although I am not 100% happy with this, I have been using it for around a month or two now so it can't be all that bad. This is a lightweight moisturiser that sinks into the skin well but you do need to use ever such a small amount. Too much and it can leave the skin feeling greasy and heavy.

So that's it, my basic skincare routine. Like I said, it's not perfect but it works for now and i'm certain it is much better than just using face wipes *cringe*. Most of these items are usually on various offers and some items can even be found in the supermarket.

Let me know if you have any skincare recommendations!
