Simple Skincare Routine

Today I thought I would share with you some skincare products that I have really being loving recently.  Most have been for the benefits I have been getting from them in terms of my skin looking better - one of them is simply a little treat. So first of all I just thought I would give you a brief background.

In my teens I was using face wipes to remove my makeup (Caroline Hirons would cringe) as they were cheap and really I didn't know any better.  I suffered break outs but I wouldn't say any more than your average teen.  As the years went on a progressed to a Superdrug own brand hot cloth cleanser and nothing more.

Then when I got myself a proper job and got more into my makeup and skincare I decided to splurge a bit more and get a 'high-end' cleanser.  By this point I was already suffering a bit more with my skin and was hoping that the higher price tag meant my skin would instantly become blemish free.  I purchased the Clinique Take The Day Off cleansing balm and continued to repurchase every time it ran low for about 4 pots.  Now I'm not saying this isn't a good product because it is and I really enjoyed using it but simply at the time it just wasn't right for my skin.

More recently (in the last 6 months) I decided to try something different (and possibly better) again and went with the Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish and this was great for a month or two but I then started to get very dry on my cheeks and around my nose to the point where it would actually be raw and sting even when I just let water run over my face.

This brings me to now.

A few weeks ago I was in my local supermarket and was feeling very self conscious about my skin (by this point I was bare faced because makeup was looking awful on my sad skin).  I had clusters of blemishes on the sides of my face near my ears and also on my forehead, as well as very dry and painful cheeks/nose area.  I was browsing the skincare aisle and I knew I needed something spot tackling but also good for sensitive skin.  I noticed that Simple Skincare had an offer on (which they often tend to) and because it was so cheap I basically came to the conclusion that I had nothing to lose by giving it a go.  I went for the Moisturising Facial Wash, Soothing Facial Toner & Hydrating Light Moisturiser.

I have now been using these and nothing else but the Garnier Micellar Water and the Avene Thermal Spring Water (which I will mention in a second) and I have seen great changes.  The areas around my nose are no longer dry and painful, the red pigmentation now appears less noticeable and most importantly the large clusters of spots from my cheeks are gone.

My routine has been Garnier Micellar Water to remove the bulk of my makeup (mainly eye makeup), followed by the Simple Face Wash.  I then pat my face dry and swipe a Simple Toner soaked cotton pad over the face and then after waiting a few moments for this to soak I follow up with the Simple Light Moisturiser.  This routine has been fuss free and I have found it simple (excuse the pun) and effective!  Recently the UK has been experiencing a heat wave so I have also been enjoying using the Avene Thermal Spring Water to spritz over my face.  This leaves me feeling cool and refreshed (I have not noticed any other skin benefits as of yet though).

So what skincare have you been loving recently?  Have you ever tried Simple yourself?  Let me know!

P.s. If you would like to give these items a try selected Simple Skincare items are currently on sale in Tesco at the price of 3 for £5.
