#HBAlPorto - The Food Edit

Saturday, October 3, 2015

As you should know by now, from here and here, I recently attended a blogger meet up and came out with some amazing goodie bags! Now in the bags were lots of fashion, beauty and lifestyle pieces but also in there was some food items. So, I thought I would put them all together for you foodies out there and share with you exactly what we got! Some of these items haven't been used by myself (my family had a good rummage through my goodie bag) but I will do my best to give a small overview of the products.

Vita Coco
Natural Coconut Water
Cafe Latte
Coconut Oil
These items are something I had mixed feelings about as I'm not the biggest fan of coconut water but I know how much my mum loves it and I am super excited about coconut oil. So basically straight away my mum put a claim in for the Original Coconut Water and she put it straight into the refrigerator as she says it's much nicer cold! She has mentioned previously that Vita Coco is her favourite coconut water on offer so that's a huge plus! For the Cafe Latte flavour - that one is actually still sat in the fridge but I'm sure it will be drank up very soon!
Now for the Coconut oil - this one got me very excited! I've been reading everywhere recently (and Vita Coco actually sent a similar pamphlet with these products) that Coconut Oil is perfect for pretty much everything! I swear it's taking over the world! Basically, this can be used on your hair, your skin and even your teeth to name a few and I personally can't wait to get using it! If you visit here Vita Coco tell you exactly what it's good for and where you can buy it!

Dragonfly Tea
Morroccon Mint
Moonlight Jasmine
Mountain Honeybush

Tick Tock Tea
Restore and Renew - Liquorice, Fennel and Lemongrass

Unfortunately with both of these brands of tea it was my dad that had the pleasure of trying them both and he is a man of very few words. What I did get from him though that these were very strong an quite 'fancy'. Perhaps something for a tea lover to try as they certainly smelt amazing! I can also say that these kinds of specialty teas can do amazing things for your body so definitely something to look for if you like to try the more natural way of doing things!

Sweet Freedom
Choc Shot - Coconut
Choc Shot - Orange Spice
These are possible the food item that I was most excited to try as the weather is getting colder and I am a sucker for a nice hot chocolate! So far I have only tried the coconut flavour but my oh my was I impressed! To make this into a hot chocolate I simply filled a cup with milk and popped it in the microwave for about a minute and a half to two minutes, then when it was done I mixed about 3 teaspoons of the yummy choc shot in and also added one teaspoon of sugar (I have a sweet tooth). This is something I would definitely recommend and I am so excited to try the orange spice flavour! These aren't only yummy as a hot chocolate but can be used as syrup on pancakes or ice cream and can even be spread on toast! Sweet Freedom do a small variety of Choc Shot products which can be found here.

Ryvita
Black Pepper Crackers
These are an item that I didn't even get a look in with as these were swiped straight from my goodie bag by my mum and she has devoured them all! What I can say is these were thoroughly enjoyed both with just butter and also with cheese on as either a light meal or a snack! I can also say that I have actually been a huge fan of Ryvita for a while now and my personal favourites are the Original Crackerbreads! You can view the full Ryvita range here!

Border Biscuits
Crunchy Oat Crumbles
I have to be totally honest with this one, I actually got my camera out specially to take a picture of these just so I could eat them ASAP! I enjoyed these the morning after the event with a lovely cup of tea for breakfast and I did not want the packet to end! These are a lovely sweet oaty biscuit that are perfect with a cup of tea or on their own as a tasty snack! I am hoping to get myself out to the supermarket in the next few days to pick up this flavour an hopefully a few more to try and when I do I will be sure to let you know how they are too!

ChocOnChoc
Handmade Belgian Chocolate
This again is something I didn't even get a look in with! Having a younger brother (who is only 7) means often sacrificing your sweets for the loving look on his little face! This gorgeous chocolate was made by an amazing company that make handmade belgian chocolates in a lovely village near Bath! They make amazing treats from simple shaped chocolates like this one right up to intricate detailed animals  in Milk, Dark and White chocolate! I think these make really lovely gifts for any chocolate lover and I've also read that they make hampers and wedding favours too! You can view their who selection here and I guarantee you will find it hard to resist!

Virtue Drinks
Ice Tea - Lemon
Now when I first got this I was sceptical because I was thinking 'do I even like ice tea?' but all of the lovely fellow #HBAlPorto bloggers were raving about it and I just had to try it! Can I just say - I am so glad I did! This was really refreshing and tasty and would be perfect for an on the go drink! I  really want to try the Strawberry and Peach flavour next because I think I will actually love that even more! These are a fairly new company, having only been founded in 2014 but they are so amazing already and I can't wait to see where they go in the future! Their products are not something you will find in your local supermarket but can be found in WHSmiths (in store) and Independent stockists, as well as a few other select brands (full list is available here).

Peppersmith
Fresh Mints
Something we always like to have in our house is chewing gum and or mints for when we're heading out the door! Not because we don't brush our teeth but it's just nice to have and it feels nice and fresh!  These were something I was sceptical about with them being natural and sugar free I thought they wouldn't be very nice but I was actually pleasantly surprised! These are super fresh and actually very good for your gums! Peppersmith actually sell both mints and gum in a variety of flavours which can been found over here.

Cool Bag
Original Cheese - Squeeze Tube
Another firm favourite of mine - Primula is something I have loved for years! This is something I enjoy on toast for breakfast or in a sandwich for dinner. However, something I hadn't ever seen before were the cute little Primula cool bags! I have a feeling the cool bags are maybe rare/limited edition so I was quite excited when Alex said I could take one home because I thought it would be good to take sandwiches in to a picnic (am I sad?).  Back to the Primula itself, this comes in a variety of flavours and can be used for all sorts of things! Head over here for some recipes and ideas!

So that was all the foodie bits I received in my Hull Bloggers Goodie Bag! Let me know if you've tried any of these products and what you think of them all! This post was a bit different for me as I don't normally talk about food but please let me know if this was something you liked and if you'd be interested in me including more food items on my blog!
