#WrenFamilyFavourites with Linda Barker

Saturday, November 21, 2015

As I write this post it is currently 12:05am and I'm wide awake and still very excitable because I just got back from such an amazing evening with Wren Kitchens, Linda Barker and Branded3. That's right, I just met Linda Barker!

The event was part of the #WrenFamilyFavourites campaign which is/was a competition being held on Instagram where the public could enter pictures of their favourite family recipes for the chance to win a AEG Food Mixer worth £249.99 (this competition is open until the 27th November so you still have time to get your entries in!)

On arrival we were each given a goodie bag (containing personalised gifts) as well as refreshments (Prosecco for me) and all told to grab a seat and get mingling and crafting! Each of our goodie bags contained a personalised scrapbook ready to fill with our own favourite recipes and we were given 3 recipe cards to get us started! The three recipes included Mince Pies, Peanut Butter & Banana Loaf and Marble Cake which were also made in a live cooking show where we could get involved and watch it all in the making!

I must admit, my scrapbook wasn't the best looking of them all (Maisie's was amazing) but it was really good fun none-the-less and I think it will be great to continue in the future.

After some scrapbooking we were all called over to the kitchen area. At this point we were able to see the recipes in action. These three recipes were actually ones taken from the entries of the #WrenFamilyFavourites competition and all looked and smelt amazing. The great thing about all these recipes was that they were all very straight forward but created a very impressive dish at the end of it.

It was surreal being able to chat to Linda and hear all about her Wren Kitchens story!

While the food was in the oven we were able to grab a bite to eat and then get back to scrapbooking/mingling. The food looked so amazing and was such a lovely added touch for us all. (I didn't actually eat any though because I got a bit caught up in the excitement of it all!)

Then the moment we had all been waiting for since the second we stepped though The Nest's front door - the cake! If there is anything better than homemade cake its homemade cake fresh from the oven. The whole room smelt amazing and I definitely want to try some of these recipes at home. I tried a slice of marble cake which was so delicious - the marble effect is very pleasing to the eye I must say!

After the crafting, baking and eating we were all taken on a tour of the Wren Kitchens collection (including Linda Barkers designs) and were able to try out all the different features in the show room. The kitchen shown above is actually the same design Linda has in her own home!

What was really interesting was learning about how bespoke a kitchen from Wren Kitchens is and how many different choices are available. There are such a large variety of colours, features and surfaces available which make it possible for you to create your kitchen exactly how you want it. The Linda Barker collection at Wren Kitchens has over 40 colours available as well as a variety of finishes and styles.

What I love about this Linda Barker Collection at Wren Kitchens is that it is not just a celebrity name to a brand. Linda is very hands on with the collection and is so very knowledgable about the whole process. She was able to tell us all about her inspirations for each design and was even telling us about the materials used when assembling the kitchens. Linda's role of creative director and interior designer really showed in the detail of the information she was giving us and she looked very much at home in The Nest.

Even though the event was 3 hours long, I didn't want it to end! The whole event was planned so amazingly and was such a fantastic opportunity. As you can see above and below, we couldn't miss a photo opportunity with Linda Barker herself who is a very down to earth, inspiring and beautiful lady!

Finally, I would like to say a huge thank you to the amazing team at Branded3 especially Victoria who has been so lovely and helpful from the first point of contact right through to the night itself! Another to the team at Wren Kitchens for hosting the event and giving us all the opportunity to be a part of it. Last but not least to the amazing Linda Barker  for spending the evening with us and letting us ask 101 questions whilst taking many photographs. It was such an amazing night.

All that is left to say is, when I finally get my own place I know for sure I want a Linda Barker kitchen from Wren Kitchens!
