Taste of the Mountains Update / Birthday Meal at 'Ask! Italian'

Saturday, February 27, 2016

Back at the beginning of January you may remember that I did a recipe post for Italian Focaccia with Rosemary and Honey as part of the Ski Total Taste of the Mountains competition. Now you may know, if you follow me on social media, that I actually won this competition and today's blog post is basically a view of my prize, how I used it and I guess a thank you to Ski Total & Branded3 for the whole thing!

A bit of brief background for anyone who missed the original post - back in December I was contacted by Branded3 who were working with the company Ski Total and was asking if I was interested in entering an exclusive blogger competition. Of course - I said yes and then was sent 3 recipe cards which were all inspired by 'food from the slopes'. I chose the Focaccia Bread with Rosemary & Honey inspired by Italy!

My blog post for the competition went down pretty well and I received lots of lovely comments saying how delicious the bread looked. I was quite relieved if I'm honest because I had never made bread before in my life! Then on 11th January I received a very exciting email to say I had won! Can you believe it?!

As you can see I chose the restaurant Ask! Italian for my £100 (!!!) gift card and now I have spent it I can say I couldn't be happier with my restaurant choice!

My 21st Birthday was on the 13th February so I used the occasion to treat my family to a meal out on the day! I thought this was the perfect opportunity and the four of us didn't even manage to spend the whole thing!

When we turned up for our reservation it turns out it looked a little bit like this...

... Turns out my Nanna had dropped by in advance and left me some balloons and a few gifts!

For mains I had the Margherita pizza. Very boring of me but I had, had a full english breakfast that morning and was due for another meal somewhere else that night so I didn't want to go overboard! I got a little excited and started tucking in before realising I hadn't taken a photo which is why it looks like it does! My pizza was so yummy and I would definitely try a different flavour next time!

Both my Mum and Dad also got a pizza whilst we were there but in the form of a Calzone and my brother got a kids pizza too! Definitely a good choice made by us all!

Then onto dessert! We all basically ended up sharing as when they arrived we ended up trying each others! They were all really yummy and finished the meal off perfectly!

The top picture is my brothers 'Tip & Top Ice Cream' which was basically a platter of dessert items for him to create his own personalised dessert!
Then the second picture is mine and my mums dessert. We actually ordered two desserts with sharing in mind but once we had tried everything we ended up choosing our favourite to finish! I went for the Italian Cheesecake with Raspberry Sorbet which was so delicious!
My Mum opted for the Chocolate Amore with Vanilla Gelato which she absolutely loved! I however found that one way too sickly!
My Dad went for the Honeycomb Cheesecake which was apparently amazing! So amazing I didn't get chance to photograph it before he gobbled it all up!

All in all we had a lovely time celebrating my birthday at Ask! Italian with the voucher I had won from the competition and I am so very grateful!

I would like to say a huge thank you to both Branded3 and Ski Total for letting me be a part of their Taste of the Mountains competition and for picking me as their winner!
