Dine In Style at Napoleons, Hull

Monday, September 26, 2016

A short while ago I was invited to Napoleons for a little Hull Bloggers event they were holding to showcase their Dine In Style package and immediately I jumped at the chance! Although I haven't been blogging much recently I thought this would be a really good opportunity to jump back into it in style! Lucky for me, they even let me bring my Mr along to enjoy it all with me which means I can show you 2 options of each course from the meal!

So upon arrival we had a chance to meet up with the other bloggers attending the event. Fortunately I had met all but one so it wasn't too daunting for me! (No matter how many events I attend, I always get nervous!) Kallum however had a fair bit of meeting and greeting to do but I think he settled into the group really well!

After meeting with our host for the night, we all went through the check in process - it's all understandably very strict to ensure everything runs smoothly. Poor Ashton had forgotten her I.D so to begin with we were a bit worried she wouldn't be able to join in. Thankfully her dad came to the rescue and dropped it off for her quickly!

Napoleons run a strict over 18's only rule and require proof of I.D on the first visit (photo I.D only so passport or driving licence). Once you have proved you are who you say you are, you are able to create membership with them which is completely free to do and gives you extra benefits such as unlimited gambling and free entry to prize draws.

To begin our night we were taken up to the main floor and were given a brief tour before being taken to the bar for our complimentary drink. We were then asked if we would like to eat first or if we would prefer our gambling lesson to start. We all decided that we would wait for Ashton first whilst enjoying our drink and then head straight to the dining area for food!

When the menu arrived I was spoilt for choice as it all sounded so delicious! As I mentioned earlier, me and Kallum actually chose different things from the menu so I can show you two selections from each course!

For starters I had the Italian beef ragout with chonchiglie pasta, then I went on to the fillet steak served with hand cut chips, slowly roasted tomato & flat cap mushroom and for dessert I had the mini pavlova with lime curd & summer berries. I have to say each course was absolutely delicious but my favourite of the lot was definitely dessert - pavlova is my fave! For the main I decided to have my steak medium rare and I was not disappointed!

Then Kallum, he had ribbons of melon with pomegranate, fruit sorbet & Pimms syrup to start, chargrilled sirloin steak, sweet potato wedges, cajun onion rings & bourbon glaze for the main and for dessert he chose the selection of ice creams and sorbets. I'll be honest, he can be pretty picky with food sometimes but I didn't hear a single complaint from him through-out. I think the real show stopper again though was definitely the dessert!

After food we moved onto the little gambling lesson! I'll admit I'm pretty clueless when it comes to betting so the lesson really helped. The guy who taught us was really friendly and informative which was great but I'll be 100% honest and say after the 3rd 'Perfect Pair' joke/comment during Blackjack I did switch off a little.

My favourite game of the night was by far Roulette as it takes minimal skill but is really fun at the same time! For Kallum however I think he preferred the three card poker as it requires a tad more knowledge!

All in all Kallum and I had a really good night and even managed to come home £10 up! The Dine in Style package is something I would definitely recommend and is a fab deal at only £22.95 per person (Mon-Fri) including a 3 course meal, drink on arrival and a £5 gaming chip! (£27.95 Fri & Sat)

Another great thing about this package is that the menu changes monthly so if you fancied visiting more than once you won't be restricted to the same food every time!

Both Kallum and me would just like to say a huge thank you to Napoleons for having us and also to the other girls for making it such a good night! We will definitely be returning some other time!
