Bonfire Night Catherine Wheels - Primula Cheese

Thursday, November 3, 2016

Today I'm back with a bang, featuring another little recipe post with Primula Cheese. As you may have read previously, I have worked with Primula for about a year now and they contacted me recently asking if I would like to feature a Halloween/Bonfire night themed recipe post. Seen as last year I went for the Halloween theme, I thought this year I would focus on Bonfire night! So, if you want to know how to make these Catherine Wheel inspired pastries then just keep reading!

Ingredients and tools you will need:
- Primula Cheese Light (100g tube)
- 3 Small Peppers (different colours)
- Ham (approx. 10 slices)
- Puff Pastry (ready rolled is easiest)
- Baking Tray
- Knife

Step One:
Core your peppers, removing all the seeds and then dice finely.
Then, unroll your pastry (keeping the paper) and dust both sides lightly with some flour.

Step Two:
Squeeze your Primula Cheese onto your pastry and spread evenly. As you do this your pastry may stretch a bit both long ways and side ways - this is fine as long as it doesn't end up too thin!

Step Three:
Layer your ham on top of your pastry/Primula making sure it is completely covered. Then place your diced peppers on top making sure you cover the whole surface, right to the edges.

Step Four:
Turn your pastry sheet so that the shorter edge is towards you and begin gently rolling into a 'swiss roll' type shape. Be as careful as possible with this ensuring you don't roll too tight/loose and that no fillings fall out. This then needs placing in the freezer on a tray for approx. 20 minutes.

Step Five:
Preheat your oven to 200℃ and then remove your pastry swirl from the freezer. This then needs cutting into 1cm thickness slices. Be careful not to cut this too thick or else they won't cook through!

Step Six:
Place your swirls on a baking tray in the oven for 15/20 minutes and then once cook leave to cool.

Then you can serve and enjoy!
