If I Knew You Were Coming...

Now I don't know about you lovely lot but I seem to have the baking bug recently and I'm pretty sure it's GBBO's fault. (I'm still mad that Liam left). I'll be completely honest, any baked treats go down well with me as I have a massive sweet tooth but really, homemade is best. That in mind, something I have been made aware of recently is a baking subscription service (RIGHT?!) and I'm telling you now, I'm excited.

First of all. the baking subscription is called 'If I knew you were coming' which instantly made me fall in love with the company and left me singing the Eileen Barton song for the rest of the day week. Then when I saw the recipes involved I was hooked. From Muffins to Brownies to Cookies. There really is something for everyone and I think these would make a really lovely gift for someone!

Before I start salivating all over the keyboard I just thought I'd share a little backstory on the company as I think it's really sweet (get it?! okay I'll shush)

If I knew You Were Coming Baking Kits is a business which was started by a husband and wife in Cumbria who were so inspired by their love of baking that they decided to create this company online. This has now gone from strength to strength and has allowed to couple to take their products to shops and are now available in a number of shops in their home town.

I had the opportunity to ask the loving couple if they found it a long/difficult process going from just a passion/idea to the up and running company it is today.

"Yes it was a very difficult and long process to go from the idea to getting the company up and running.  We did a lot of research into the recipes which meant a lot of taste testing! And then we also had to do a lot of research into what kind of bakes would be popular.  It’s hard to visualise the final product and we have had a lot of different variations of the box.  We are constantly updating and improving and learning from feedback."

Online, If I Knew You Were Coming offer their very popular subscription boxes for 3, 6 or 12 months. They also offer individual baking kits which are perfect for beginner bakers or complex cookers! Some of the ones that caught my eye were the Caramel Brownies and the Strawberries & Cream Muffins! Don't they sound delicious?

I think it's really lovely to see a small business idea between husband and wife turn out to be such a great success. Luckily for me you, I am going to give one of there lovely baking kits a try and let you all know how it goes! Keep an eye out for that post shortly!
