Tips To Create The Perfect Capsule Wardrobe

Thursday, May 24, 2018

9 times out of 10 I will stand and stare at my wardrobe, full to the brim with disappointment. Over the years I have never really managed to master the perfect capsule wardrobe - until now. Today I thought I would share a few tips with you, to help you gather the perfect versatile selection!

Stay Basic

Basic buys are your best friend. Think vest tops and t-shirts. Black and white tops are key pieces in a capsule wardrobe - paired with jeans, skirts or leggings you're good to go! Need to layer? Pretty much any jacket, scarf or accessory will look good with a basic tank or tee. Don't want to settle for an average basic? Go for basics with extras like in this range of Knix undershirts for women.

Go Denim

Jeans and jacket. Now I'm not saying you have to be daring and go for the double denim vibe but denim jeans are amazing for a capsule wardrobe. Whether it's skinny fit, flares or mom jeans you go for, they can all be dressed up or down if you pair them with the right things. As for a denim jacket - perfect for the spring/summer time and adds something different to a look.

Comfort is Key

Any capsule wardrobe just wouldn't be complete without some comfy pieces. I'm thinking those go to trainers that cas' up any outfit or even a pair of leggings which can be thrown under a long shirt/ dress! I live in trainers these days as I think they can look on trend without trying too hard and are super comfy!

Wrap Up

Make sure you have a jacket or cardigan to layer with when it's a bit colder. After all a jacket can completely change how an outfit looks. My personal preference is a nice leather (or leather look) one as it adds a completely different edge to an otherwise plain outfit. Another bonus? There isn't much that a leather jacket doesn't look good with!

So there are just a few tips to get your capsule wardrobe up and running! Let me know, what pieces can't you live without?
