3 Reasons I'm Glad We Moved From Our Home Town

Thursday, November 29, 2018

Although moving to a completely new area didn't come without it's fair share of risks, it also came with a fair few benefits. When we told people we were moving from our little East Yorkshire town to somewhere down the motorway and in South Yorkshire, they were quick to bite back 'ooh that's a drive away isn't it?' or 'what you moving there for?'. There were very few who looked on the positive side and saw it as a fresh start. Now, after living here for just over 4 months, I thought I'd share my top 3 favourite reasons for moving away from that little town in East Yorkshire and starting again.

Lazy Life
If I'm ever having a lazy day but have to go to the shop I'm not going to want to get dolled up and make an effort, let's be real. Where we live now I can go out with greasy hair, no makeup and my slobs and not give a damn about bumping into someone because no one knows us here.

Quiet Life
That being said, because no one knows us here, no one knows our business and that is priceless. In the little town in East Yorkshire, chances are you know about 75% of people, someway or another. Chinese whispers travel fast so the best thing is that no one knows you, or your business.

New Life
When you move away from your 'home town' you have to start a new beginning. Find your own way and make your own routine. We no longer do things just because it's all we know - we're finding our own way and making our own new life.

So there we have it, 3 quick and honest reasons why I'm super happy that we moved towns. I'm so grateful that we are able to live a little further afield but still be able to visit our family whenever we want to. I actually still work in our 'home town' so feel like I get the best of both worlds as I'm there 3 days a week currently.

Let me know. Have you ever moved away from you home town? If not do you think you ever would?
