Slow Cooker Fudge

Saturday, November 28, 2020

Like many people this year, I've spent a little extra time in the kitchen rustling up sweet treats to try and pass the time and I think by far my favourite thing I've made has been slow cooker fudge. I must admit, I think I made it a little too often in a short period of time and me and Kal got sick of the sight of it but honestly, the taste is amazing and the opportunities are endless!

Ingredients
500g Chocolate
1 Tsp Vanilla Extract
A Large Knob of Butter
1 395g Can of Sweetened Condensed Milk

Method
- Break chocolate up into slow cooker and add all other ingredients in and mix.
- Put slow cooker on low heat.
- Cook fudge for a total of 2 hours, stirring every 15 minutes.
- Line a tray with baking paper (choose size depending on how thick or think you want your fudge)
- Once cooked - pour fudge into baking tray.
- Put fudge in the fridge to set for a few hours (I find overnight works best).
- Cut up and enjoy!

The recipe above is just the base recipe but you can switch the chocolate for any of your choosing. You can also add a little extra something on top of the fudge once in the tray before you pop it in the fridge to set if you fancy. For example, Dairy Milk fudge with crushed up Crunchie on the top or Galaxy fudge with some crushed up Oreos. So far I have made this with Mint Aero, Cadburys Dairy Milk and also cheap chocolate and all have worked really well. I must admit the Aero one was incredibly minty so maybe only make that one if you're really fond of minty chocolate. I think the Cadbury one was probably my fave but there's no surprise there.

I think this is such an easy sweet treat to make and would be perfect for if you were having friends over or even to make as a gift for someone! I feel like the portion is quite generous so one batch is easily sharable (or not if you're anything like me). I think next time I make a batch (which will probably be soon after this blog post) I'm going to try Terrys Chocolate Orange as something about them screams Christmas to me!

Tell me, have you ever made slow cooker fudge? If so, what's your favourite flavour?
