Snack Time with Primula

Thursday, November 12, 2015

As I didn't mention in this post (but should have), I have been a huge lover of Primula since I was a little girl. That's why when a lovely email dropped into my inbox asking if I would like to be part of their Primula Blogger Programme, I was overjoyed! As part of this opportunity I will be bringing you one recipe per month for the next 6 months, all including amazing products by Primula! (You may have also notice my snazzy new badge in the side bar)

Primula have actually recently brought out a new range of Primula Spreads which come in 3 flavours - Cheese with Chilli, Cheese with Onion and also Smoked Cheese which are all available in ASDA. These all sounded amazing so I decided to make a different recipe for each flavour, as not to leave any out!

All these recipes have been created with a theme in mind which is evening treats and snacking. My thoughts behind each recipe was an evening in with friends with the ease of an indulgent tasty snack to share.

Below we have recipes for-
Ciabatta Pizzas with Smoked Cheese Primula.
Ham, Spring Onion and Primula Cheese with Onion dip (perfect for crackers).
Nachos with Salsa, Guacamole and Primula Cheese with Chilli.

Let's get started!

Ciabatta Pizzas with Smoked Cheese Primula
Makes 8 Pizza Slices (Serves 4 with 2 slices each)

Ingredients and tools you will need:
- 4 Ciabatta Rolls
- Tomato Puree
- 125g Tub Primula Smoked Cheese Spread
- Toppings of your choice - In this case - Wafer Thin Ham
- Bread Cutting Knife
- Butter Knife
- Oven tray covered in Tin Foil
- Grill set to Medium

Step One:
Cut the Ciabatta Rolls in half and lay out onto a foiled oven tray. (Below you will see only 2 ciabatta rolls cut - the recipe above however does cater for 4 ciabattas halved and each made into a pizza resulting in 8 Pizza Slices.)

Step Two:
Cover each Ciabatta half with Tomato Puree to your liking. Our Tomato Puree was quite a strong one so we just went for a thin layer on each.

Step Three:
Take your Primula Smoked Cheese Spread and put this on top of the Tomato Puree on your Ciabatta half. Again this can be as little or as much as you like! We put a nice covering on each - with the amount we put on each, you would need exactly one tub of Primula Spread for your 8 pizza slices.

Step Four:
Add your toppings to your pizza slices. As I mentioned above, we used wafer thin ham cut up into pieces.

Step Five:
Put your pizza slices under the grill for roughly about 5 minutes or until the cheese begins to melt/colour.

Step Six:
Serve and enjoy! This recipe is perfect for sharing with friends on an evening as a nice indulgent snack!

My opinion:
This Primula Smoked Cheese Spread was what I originally thought would be my least favourite however I was very wrong! These Ciabatta Pizzas tasted absolutely amazing and were full of flavour! These were a real treat and are perfect for snacking with friends on an evening and perfect for kids! This turned out to be one of my favourite flavours of the Primula Spread and I think it's definitely a fridge staple!

Ham, Spring Onion and Primula Cheese with Onion Dip
Serves 4

Ingredients and tools you will need:
- A Bunch of Spring Onions
- 150g Cooked Ham
- 125g Tub Primula Cheese with Onion Spread
- Knife
- Spoon
- Bowl

Step One:
Chop the Spring Onions and Ham as finely as possible (or to your desired taste depending on how chunky you would like your dip).

Step Two:
Add the whole tub of Primula Cheese with Onions Spread to a bowl.

Step Three:
Add the chopped Spring Onions and Ham to the Cheese Spread in the bowl and mix all three ingredients together until nicely combined.

Step Four:
Serve in a small bowl and enjoy! We found these are best served with crackers as you can use the crackers as a mini scoop!

My Opinion:
This was my all time favourite recipe out of the three! The Primula Cheese with Onion Spread is absolutely amazing and really makes a nice dip! Once again, this spread is full of flavour and a definite fridge staple. This dip would be lovely for sharing with friends!

Nachos with Salsa, Guacamole and Primula Cheese with Chilli
Servings depending on bowl size.

Ingredients and tools you will need:
- Tortilla Chips (I used Lightly Salted)
- Grated Cheese (Any)
- 125g Tub Primula Cheese with Chilli Spread
- Dips of your Choice (I used Guacamole & Salsa)
- Over proof Bowl
- Spoon
- Bowl
- Grill set to Medium

Step One:
Line your bowl with Tortilla Chips so that none of the bottom of the bowl is showing. These can be layered as deep as you want but be mindful if you do a thick layer, the ones at the bottom probably won't have any topping on!

Step Two:
Sprinkle a layer of grated cheese over the Tortilla Chips. This can be as little or as much as you want! This melts when under the grill and goes lovely and gooey!

Step Three:
Add your favourite dips to the top of your nachos! Popular choices are Guacamole and Salsa however the opportunities are endless! You don't have to be neat with this - the messier the better!

Step Four:
Last but not least for ingredients, add the Primula Cheese with Chilli Spread to the top for that added flavour!

Step Five:
Place under the grill for roughly about 5 minutes or until the cheese begins to melt/colour. Be careful not to leave under the grill for too long as the Tortilla Chips will burn!

Step Six:
Serve and Enjoy! This Nachos are the perfect snack for an evening with friends and are so quick and easy! The Primula Cheese with Chilli Spread gives them a lovely added kick!

My Opinion:
Although not my favourite - this Primula Cheese with Chilli is perfect for people who like a product full of flavour with that added kick! This Primula Spread was perfect for some delicious Nachos which are great for sharing!

So that's all three of my recipes! Which one was your favourite? I can't decide!

As mentioned above, all three of the Primula Spreads are available at ASDA and are the perfect fridge staple! If you don't fancy creating a full recipe with these spreads, they can be used as the perfect alternative sandwich filler packed full of flavour!

As an alternative Primula treat, why not try this limited edition, Primula Cheese with Smoked Salmon! This tasty treat is also available at ASDA.
