Urban Decay ft. Gwen Stefani Eyeshadow Palette

Saturday, January 23, 2016

Back at the end of last year, my best friend and I decided we weren't going to bother with Christmas Presents (well, I decided and he agreed). To cut a long story short, we kind of ended up doing gifts anyway just a couple of weeks after Christmas and today I thought I'd share what I got because it's possibly the best gift I have ever received *insert heart eye emoji*. I got the Urban Decay ft. Gwen Stefani Limited Edition Eyeshadow Palette!!!

Now I'm sure you've seen this palette a billion and one times over already but I couldn't not share it on my blog. It's so beautiful!

I am very much a high-street/drugstore kind of girl when it comes to shopping. The most expensive item I own makeup wise is my Urban Decay Basics Palette and even that took a lot of thought! I have never owned a Mac product and I'm not sure I ever will (because who wants to splurge £15.50 on a lipstick when you can have a takeaway?!). This is why this is so exciting for me!

Inside the palette box there was also a card with 4 lipstick samples on. This got me even more hyped as I didn't realise this collection was branching out further so I was really looking forward to giving them a try!

I have actually tried the third one down which is a sheer nude called 'Ex Girlfriend' and I know already it will be going to the top of my wish list for my birthday! (Please don't let this be the start of a high end makeup obsession)

As with all the Urban Decay palettes there is a lovely and large mirror once you open it up which is really handy! There is also an added detail in the bottom right corner which says 'Magic's in the Makeup' in gold print. I love added details like this and it gives the palette the extra 'Gwen' touch as it is actually the name of a No Doubt song!

Now onto the shades! There are a total of 15 shades altogether and they come in a range of finishes from matte to frost to full on metallic.  They are also mainly neutral with a couple of more 'out there' shades. I personally think that every single shade in the palette could be worked for both day and night time looks whether it be a bold smokey eye or a softer look with a pop of colour!

As you can see above, all of the colours are really beautiful and pigmented! I have used the palette only once so far but my first impressions are that the shades are excellent quality and blend very easily. Each colour is very pigmented however, the shimmers (especially the first 4 on the bottom row) are much easier to use on a wet brush. The shadows have very minimal fall out and are really build able! Of course, as with most eyeshadows - there would be much better lasting power and pigmentation if you use an eyeshadow primer/base first.

This is a palette I would definitely recommend splurging on if you can! The whole Gwen Stefani collection is available from www.urbandecay.co.uk

Have you tried this palette or are you looking at picking up any of the items from this collection?
