If I Knew You Were Coming - Classic Chocolate Brownies

Tuesday, November 21, 2017

If you're a bit of an avid blog reader you may remember a few weeks ago I shared a story about a couple in Cumbria who turned their love for baking into a business. As I mentioned in that post - I have a huge sweet tooth and luckily for me 'If I Knew You Were Coming' were kind enough to send me one of their baking kits to try. Shall we see how it went?

First up, I just want to mention how nicely everything was packaged so nicely. Perfect sized paper bags with the mixtures in, all labelled with colour co-ordinated stickers. The card was really well set out and easy to understand which makes the kits perfect for all levels of bakers.

Everything you need for the recipe is included minus a couple of none deliverable items. All we needed for these Classic Chocolate Brownies were butter and eggs.

As I mentioned above, the instructions were super easy to follow and the whole process was really quick! First up, Mix the eggs and sugar - like many other cake recipes! We also used this time to preheat the oven and line our baking dish/tray.

Then, melt the butter and chocolate together and mix that too! If anything with the recipe I feel like a used a whole lot of pots! Who else loves baking but hates the washing up that comes with it?!

The instructions said to whisk the mixtures together so Kallum took it to a whole new level. What do you do when you can find the whisk attachments but not the actual hand mixer? Use a drill! Kallum is convinced this made the brownies especially nice as they were whisked extra good. However i'm not convinced this is the reason.

How good does that look? The package even included baking parchment so we could fill the dish/tray with the mixture creating minimal mess!

In the oven for 15 minutes! This gave us time to have a quick clean up and get a rack ready for when they came out of the oven. The whole house smelt amazing by this point!

Out the oven and looking delicious! with brownies they're meant to be still a bit gooey but the top should spring to touch! You then give then 10-20 minutes to set a little inside! We did cut them but as you can see they were still very gooey so they did collapse a little after this picture! Save the cutting until after they've set, people!

There we have it. The most simple yet yummy Classic Chocolate Brownie recipe I think I have ever come across. These where honestly so nice and I think these little kits would be great for kids, as presents or even just for some fuss-free baking!

What do you think of the final product?

So, is a baking subscription something you'd love to give a try? Or have you tried If I Knew You Were Coming before? Let me know, I love to hear your feedback!
