As my dad turned 40 this year, Kallum and I decided to treat him to a getaway for his birthday (ok, it was Kallum's idea but I like to take part credit). My family hadn't been on a holiday for roughly 6 years and Dad frequently works 7 day weeks so a break away certainly seemed like the best option. None of us had visited Centerparcs before so it was exciting for us all and today I thought I'd create a little blog post for any of you who haven't been before either!
Okay, so the journey from East Yorkshire was quite long and a toilet break was required part way through but once we arrived we perked right back up. Check in was at 3pm and on arrival we were able to collect our 'keys' (wristbands) and take the car to the cabin to unpack. (Unless you pay for a parking space, you can only keep the car near the cabin for loading and unloading on arrival and departure days. Otherwise they have a strict carpark policy!) We had a lovely message left for us on the chalk board and was drawn in instantly by the 'Dining In' takeaway menu standing proudly on the kitchen worktop!
Our little cabin was located in 'Fir' and was a lovely little 3 bedroomed lodge. When we booked it however, I think we skipped over the details as we swiftly found it there was only 1 double room and the other 2 had two single beds in them. Easily fixed with a furniture switch around! Other than the bedroom situation, our little cabin was super cute and had everything we could have possibly needed for 5 days away!
Our little patio was a lovely addition as we were able to have a bbq one evening and my brother was able to play/explore outside. We also had a various guests come visit our window from ducks to squirrels! The best thing about ours? We were seconds away from 'Cascade Way' and if you stayed nice and quite, the sound of water flowing filled the air!
As you can see, during our 5 days away we were not short of things to do! Centerparcs have a whole bunch of activities available on site for people of various ages/abilities. Granted, some can be on the pricey side but are equally as fun and worth it if your budget will allow. Whilst there we took part in pottery painting, 18 hole crazy golf and bowling. Should I go again though, I would definitely try and save to visit the spa and try the tree top adventure (if I get the guts!)
If your budget won't stretch to the pay as you go activities however, you can spend your days making memories in the Subtropical Swimming Paradise, exploring the wild outdoors or even just making the most of the mazes and play equipment scattered about the site. The land train is also very convenient and great fun for the kids!
So, whether it's a minimal spends - take your own food and create your own fun holiday you're after or an all expenses - never have to cook break you're going for, either way I would definitely recommend Centerparcs Longleat. We managed to not overspend and still have a really amazing time away and I know for certain we will visit again! No passports required and all just a short drive away!
