Monday 7th May was Kallums Birthday so when bakerdays put out a tweet looking for bloggers, a couple of weeks before, I jumped at the chance of reviewing another one of their cakes and treating Kal at the same time. So, what is a letterbox cake you ask? Keep reading to find out!

Letterbox Cake;
a cake that fits through the letterbox. 5" in diameter (12cm diameter x 2.5cm high)

So, on to the cake itself. I went for this 'love you birthday photo cake', as I loved the idea of popping a photo on there, and had 'Kallum' written on too. I obviously selected 'letterbox cake' from the drop down menu and then went for the 'rich chocolate chip option' as Kal loves brownies. The website is super simple to navigate and reasonably priced for the idea behind it all!

The letterbox cakes come perfectly packaged in a sleek just-the-right-size box. Once you open it up you'll find a little thank you card and of course, your cake - safely packaged in a cute tin. Inside the tin, there is a handy little tab you can pull to remove the cake without touching it too much!

If you're a normal person you might wanna get a knife and portion it up. Kallum however, held it like a burger and took a big bite. Now, although he wasn't keen on sharing (I mean it was his birthday after all) I did manage to have a bite and it was delicious! This isn't a word a particularly like but the cake was really moist and was definitely rich and chocolatey.

Half the cake was gone in a about a minute and I'm pretty sure it went down a treat! I've tried the vanilla one in the past and I would definitely say this chocolate one was nicer! Gooey and delicious just like a brownie. Perfect for a number of occasions, from birthdays to anniversaries.

Is he trying to tell me something?

All in all, I would definitely recommend these letterbox cakes, especially the chocolate one, as I think they're a really convenient and quirky idea. bakerdays offer a huge variety of cake designs but if you can't find what you're looking for, then they also offer a bespoke cake design service for free!
